Why is it really not you but him?

guy-breakup

So who hasn’t hear this line from an a–hole in our past?  It’s so popular that many a book came out and went on to become bestsellers because of the title.  The dreaded ——  “It’s not you, it’s me”  break up line.

But let’s take a step back and analyze, is it really just a line? an excuse to make it easier for the girl to move on?  Or is there really a truth to the saying?  What does the saying goes? Where there is smoke there is fire.  Maybe there is some truth to it all.

Truth is, psychologists reject the idea that men are less emotional than women.  Instead what the researchers say is that men experience restrictive emotionality.  It basically means men are hard wired to be unwilling to disclose intimate emotions openly. ( there is a correlation of restrictive emotionality to anxiety disorders but never mind that for now ) .  Because of gender stereotypes, men are more likely to express anger, contempt and happiness and women are more likely to express fear and happiness.  Women are also shown to have a higher level of expression accuracy and the correct judgement of nonverbal cues.

Therefore, to the women out there,  when you hear that line, think of it as “Hell Ya, it is Really You!” and that is my two cents worth!

#Hugot – what is it with Filipinos and Sentimentality?

I read recently of an ad agency expert who said that the most popular ads in the country are those that hit the sentimentality of the Pinoys.  We all know that its true.

Why is that though?   Is it because the Filipinos are the Latinos of Asia? and we all know that Latinos are portrayed as this romantic dashing debonair of our dreams type of persona.

Psychologically ( and I use this term a lot ) , I am theorizing it as because of our sense of family and how closely knit we are to our relatives.  Only in the Philippines and Filipinos can you hear that you need to entertain “Tita Beth” because she is the aunt of your cousin in law who is married to your sister in law’s brother ( don’t even make sense of it ) and therefore your relative and therefore should have open access to your home.

But because of this psyche that we have, we are so close and so intertwined in the lives of our loved ones that it is very hard to let go if and when circumstances force it upon us.  thus the word # HUGOT.

How often have you cried because you got too close to the niece of your now ex boyfriend who you miss more than him?  Or how often do you tear up every time you see the Jollibee commercial that made you remember “THE ONE” that got away?

Whatever it is that makes us sentimental, it is who we are, as a people. and we should celebrate and we are celebrating that by all the creative and masterful commercials that we are seeing more often now.

So to Jollibee, McDonalds and a host of other commercials, Cheers to Hugot! Cheers to the Filipino People!

ECompareMo.com

Have you ever tried to apply for a home loan? like buy a condo unit for investment?  then having to go through multiple websites or bank calls to get the interest rate and figure out the month payments?

Well, I there is an online website that does just that !  Its called eCompareMo.com.  This website helps you get all the information you need in order to make the correct decision for you.

Example, by filling out all the necessary data, one would be able to know the different banks that one would qualify for and get approved of a loan.  The site also helps you process the application and everything is done online!  No more falling in line in the banks or waiting for days for documents to be sent.

With our busy lives now, we always need to strive for work life balance and the ECompareMo website helps you do that by cutting the time of the applications and letting you do things you otherwise would have spent reading a newspaper while in line waiting for your name to be called in a bank.

13 Reasons Why NOT

13 reasons why

There is a very popular Netflix movie right now about a girl named Hannah Baker who recently took her own life.  Through a series of audio tapes, she relates her experiences that collectively caused her to commit suicide.

This is a very disturbing topic for teenagers.  Some argue that it opens up topics like bullying and It gives adults the venue and opportunity to talk to teenagers about the right way to handle situations like these.  So this movie is more of a “what not to do”  rather than a “what to do”.

In my opinion, this movie glamorizes and romanticizes suicide.  This April 2017,the National Association of School Psychologists released a statement that says ” Research shows that exposure to another person’s suicide or sensationalized accounts of death, can be one of the many risk factors that youths struggling with mental health condition cite as reason they contemplate suicide.”

An otherwise healthy teenager might watch this and come out like ” oh, deep” but for the other teenagers who are struggling, this kind of shows might be catalysts for something that will have a negative impact on them.

What with all the talk about this movie,  this is my two cents worth, because, A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!

The Age of Fulfillment

It is indeed the age of fulfillment for me! I am at the age where I am slowly seeing the fruits of my labor and seeing how my life  is shaping into something that I am quite happy with.  Sure things could be better— but it couldn’t also be so much worse! 🙂  Let’s keep on looking at the bright side!
